The White Tara Foundation
The White Tara Foundation supports children in Asian Countries with food, health(care) and education - three important pillars for a happy life.
Food, because they need to live and grow. Health(care), in order to become strong and healthy happy human beings. Education, to learn about different aspects of the world around them and to make a contribution to their country, which creates a better future for more people. |

We donate funds to several projects by offering products in our donation-store. All profit from our donation-store sales is divided over these projects.
Further, we try to create awareness for the situation of these children.
Our Goal
Our goal is: "to support children in Asian countries with food, health(care) and education by creating awareness, selling products and raising funds.'
'To support' means to collect and donate funds for projects that support children with food, health(care) and education.
'Children' mean children that live in the (very) poor areas of these Asian countries.
'Asian countries' mean countries like for example India, Nepal, Tibet, etc.
'Creating awareness' means awareness of the situation of these children through our website, writing of articles, presentations, etc.
What are Asian Countries?
Because it is very difficult to narrow down who we want to support, we left it open. This means that, for example, projects from India, Nepal, Tibet, or Vietnam can become candidate for support.
There is one condition; the project must have something to do with the food, health or education for children.
These countries often have active Buddhism, which we see as positive.
Buddhism cultivates good qualities like loving-kindness, happiness and compassion. We think it is important that children learn these qualities, so they benefit from it in their adult lives.
Donation
The money we receive from selling products from our donation-store as well as the money we receive from donators enables us to support several projects.
All profit and funds are divided over the donation projects.
The cost of running the White Tara Foundation is funded by us and our supporters. We do not use money from donations and sales for that purpose.
Who is White Tara?
The White Tara is one of the most beloved goddesses in the Buddhist pantheon. Traditionally she symbolizes compassion, long life, and healing. The White Tara is always depicted as a peaceful deity. It is said that White Tara's seven eyes enable her to clearly "see" all beings in all the realms of existence. Her expression is one of the utmost compassion.
Meditative visualization of the White Tara helps practitioners to overcome life-treatening obstacles.

Our Logo
Our logo represents the well known characteristic of White Tara - the eye.
In other words, "we try to keep a compassionate eye on the children and help them as good as we can." |

Why do we do this?
For a long time we know that there is more to life than just career, money, material things, etc. But sometimes one needs a little push in the right direction.
In the morning of the 26th of December 2004 we found ourselves in middle of a tsunami. This shocking event is for ever printed in our minds. It 'guided' us to the Heart Shrine Relic Tour in Hamburg (Germany) in July 2005, which was very impressive to experience. After reciting 1 million Om Mani Padme Hums we again visited the Heart Shrine Relic Tour in Rotterdam (The Netherlands) in June 2006 as well as having 'tea' * with H.H. the Dalai Lama in Antwerpen (Belgium). This was then followed by lectures at the Maitreya Institute in the Netherlands. It was during the lectures on Bodhichitta that we suddenly knew what we should do.
This foundation is the result. |
